Henna Night III

In the series "Henna Nights", Ameni Abida turns to the Tunisian wedding ritual as a space where women gather, prepare, and celebrate. The series revisits the henna party not through spectacle, but through stillness, a sequence of gestures, fabrics, and exchanges that speak to intimacy and care.

Each digital illustration captures fragments of Hammamet and Sfax’s traditional dress, reimagined through soft contrasts of colour and light. Between gold embroidery and deep indigo, the works hold memories of laughter, waiting, and transformation. What emerges is less a depiction of ceremony than a portrait of shared presence, of women inhabiting tradition on their own terms.
